Operation Oasis - IS A volunteer led 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides therapeutic massage and day spa services for our wounded military men and women (and their families) who are currently returning from the front lines of Afghanistan, Iraq and other theatres of operation and are being treated at Brook Army Medical Center on Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas.
Often times our fallen and injured military service members and their families have needs that can not be met with existing programs. We find that their physical injuries and illnesses are being treated, but their emotional and social needs and desires for small comforts are sometimes overlooked.
Our Mission: Provide Therapeutic & Day Spa Services for the Service members and their Families at Brook Army Medical Center and other federal and military hospitals aiding in swift emotional, mental, physical rehabilitation, and recovery.
Soldiers: Operation Oasis is focused on providing a nourishing, emotionally relaxing and meditative social and physical environment where our wounded and injured men and women can continue their healing process with their family to reduce daily stresses to facilitate their re-entry into the mainstream of America. We believe by providing day spa services and training programs the service members and their families can heal faster while promoting marriage enrichment. Coupled with other programs, including both spectator and participatory sporting events, social outings and individually tailored competitive events and other social opportunities massage and therapeutic services form an integral part of their rehabilitation process. This program heals our warriors and their families mentally and physically at a faster rate. We fully understand the need for the hospital staff to participate as part of the rehabilitation and welcome them to participate if they are eligible to attend. We are constantly on the alert for opportunities to support them in their endeavors.
Families: The quick rehabilitation of our soldiers always requires the involvement of family members and therefore we make every effort to improve the families stay at BAMC. Often the spouse is depressed and often needs a sympathetic shoulder to cry on or an ear to listen. Operation Oasis staff do just that and ensure through spa services they feel and look better. These services re-invigorate them and to provide that essential support to allow them to support their injured warrior spouse or family member. Sometimes a simple massage, facial, pedicure or manicure is all the spouse needs to decompress, reflect on the day’s events and store up the strength to tackle the next phase of recovery. Operation Oasis serving as an extension to services providing through the Burn/Ortho therapy services, Fisher Houses, the Warrior Family Assistance center, and the Soldier Family Assistance Center. Working with the families, we also communicate directly with the case workers at BAMC, WHMC, and The Audie Murphy VA Medical Center to ensure that physical and financial needs are effectually communicated to ensure their family needs are met. We believe that the soldiers recover faster and more completely when they are not burdened with administrative, emotional, or family concerns.
Operation Oasis is a place of refuge where the wounded and their families can relax, meditate, pray and just have a quiet moment in their lives.
