Couples Therapy Training Program.  

This program was established to augment the family chaplaincy program offered at BAMC enhance the family relationships.  The Nakoma location will be the focal point for most of the couples therapy program. This 8 week program, two hours per week is specifically designed to provide physical interaction between the soldier and his loved one.

Working closely with Soldiers' Angels over the past 18 months we have determined that a family members' aversion to the injury site has been significantly reduced through massage. Our program includes a spiritual component if desired by the family to further enhance marital harmony.  Upon successful conclusion of the program the family will be provided the equipment and supplies to continue the program at home.

I am currently in the Fisher House, where Krystle comes weekly to do massages. My injuries are extensive, yet she has always been perfect on not hurting but easing more pain than any pain medications I have been on. In fact because of her therapy I was able to get off all of the pain meds completely a whole lot sooner than the surgeons thought possible.. She is extremely patient and a very diligent therapist.

I came to Brook Army Medical Center from a deployment to Iraq, my wife came to look after me. There are many services here at BAMC to help me  As I recover and I am concerned about my wife as she cares for me. I am fully aware of the stress she is under as she helps me get well again. The body wraps that  Krystle provided helped me and my wife relax for an afternoon. The knowledge that my wife was being pampered was far more helpful though. Knowing that she could have a few minutes to relax and have someone take care of her warmed my soul. Krystle touched my heart in a very unique way, and in a way she could never know.
